UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The No. 16 Wisconsin women’s tennis team return to its winning ways as it battled to a 4-2 victory over No. 48 Penn State on Sunday.
Xinyu Cai and Alina Mukhortova posted the lone win in doubles for the Badgers, winning 6-2, though the Nittany Lions prevailed for opening point.
Maria Sholokhova coasted in her match by scores of 6-1, 6-2 to knot the score. Xinyu Cai also won in straight sets by scores of 6-2, 6-3 as Wisconsin took the lead, 2-1. Alina Mukhortova and Ava Markham secured the match by winning tie breakers as the Badgers improved to 4-1 in Big Ten matches.
Wisconsin will return to the road Saturday, March 19 at No. 3 Michigan for an 11 a.m. match.
