Jackets Claim ACC Win over Boston College – Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets

THE FLATS – The Georgia Tech men’s tennis team (11-7, 2-2 ACC) capped off its week of competition with another conference victory as they defeated Boston College (6-6, 0-4 ACC) in a 6-1 decision.

The Eagles had the early advantage after going 2-1 in doubles and clinching the first point of the match. Tech’s lone victors in doubles, Keshav Chopra and Rohan Sachdev, improved to 3-1 in dual match play. The duo took down Boston College’s Fung and Vassel with a score of 6-2.

When it came to singles play, the Jackets took complete control with several matches concluding in two sets. The first match finished quickly as Robert Bauer dominated Boston College’s McDonald. After blanking him 6-0 in the first set, Bauer finalized the match with a 6-3 win in the second set.

No. 74 Chopra and Sachdev followed with almost identical scores in their respective matches. Both Jackets bested their opponents by atleast three points in two sets. No. 68 Marcus McDaniel clinched the match for Tech with his 7-6 [7-4], 7-6 [7-3] victory over Boston College’s Bianchi.

The match wrapped up with singles wins from Elias Shokry and No. 46 Andres Martin. Shokry was the fifth Jacket to be victorious through two-straight sets of play. Despite falling in the first set, Martin rallied back with a 6-3 win in the second and 7-6 [7-3] win in the third set.
