HONOLULU (January 6, 2023) – Freshman Yura Nakagawa and sophomore Stefaniia Mikhailova each captured singles victories as Washington State completed the second day of play at the 2023 Weinman Foundation Invitational Friday, played at the University of Hawaii Tennis Courts.
In Friday’s hidden dual format, the Cougars faced No. 22 Iowa State and Hawaii in both singles and doubles matches. Nakagawa picked up her first singles win of 2023 as she rallied for a 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 win over Iowa State’s Anna Supapitch Kuearum. WSU’s second win came as Mikhailova pulled out a close first set before cruising to a 6-4, 6-0 win over Hawaii’s Rita Pinto.
Play concludes Saturday at the Weinman Foundation Invitational.
