Despite tearing ligaments in his left ankle, Murray still manage to hobble through a third-set tiebreaker loss to Tomas Machac at the Miami Open last month.

“Latest update from Andy is that he is now out of the walking boot and will not be having surgery on his ankle,” a Murray spokesperson told BBC. “His rehab is going well and he is hoping to start hitting again on court soon.

“As yet he doesn’t have a date yet for returning to competition.”

Two-time Olympic gold-medal champion Murray celebrates his 37th birthday on May 15th.

Murray has said he plans to conclude his career this summer.

Though he is on the entry list for Roland Garros, it’s uncertain when Murray will be healthy enough to return for his tennis farewell.

Earlier this month, the LTA said Murray is hopeful of playing Queen’s Club in June in preparation for his final Wimbledon.
