FORT WORTH, Texas – Illini redshirt junior William Mroz’s run at the ITA Central Sectional Championship came to a close on Thursday afternoon.
Mroz dropped his first-round singles match to No. 4-seeded and No. 72-ranked Aristotelis Thanos of Michigan State in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3, at TCU’s Bartzen Varsity Courts.
After moving into the consolation bracket, Mroz was forced to withdraw due to injury.
The Illinois men’s tennis team will close its fall schedule from Nov. 19-24, when Kenta Miyoshi represents the Fighting Illini at the NCAA Singles Championship in Waco, Texas.
