UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State men’s tennis team is prepped to face No. 52 Indiana and Purdue on the road this weekend. The Blue and White will meet Indiana on Friday, Mar. 29 at 4 p.m. at the IU Tennis Center in Bloomington, Ind. On Sunday, Mar. 31, the squad will take on Purdue in West Lafayette, Ind. at the Schwartz Tennis Center at 1 p.m. Both matches continue Big Ten play.
Senior Miko Eala finished last weekend with two singles wins and a doubles win to earn Big Ten Player of the Week honors. Sophomore Stefan Simeunovic and freshmen Jack Martuccio, Nolan Ranger, and Alex Sterin all hold doubles wins from the weekend as well.
EYEING INDIANA
The Hoosiers welcome the Nittany Lions with a 12-4 (1-0) record and a national ranking at No. 52. Penn State looks to bounce back, as the last matchup resulted in a close 4-3 win by Indiana. The Hoosiers roster holds ranked singles player Sam Landu, at No. 55, and doubles duo, Michael Andre and Ilya Tiraspolsky, at No. 50. Indiana’s matchup against Cornell last Sunday resulted in a 4-1 win over the Big Red. The Hoosiers are 1-0 in conference action with a 4-2 win over Purdue.
SCOPING OUT PURDUE
The Boilermakers currently hold a 5-9 (0-1) record on the season. Historically, Penn State leads 16-5 in matchups against Purdue, with the last match resulting in a 4-2 win for the Nittany Lions. Purdue’s one conference result is a 4-2 setback to No. 52 Indiana. The Boilermakers will host No.1 Ohio State on Friday, Mar. 29 before welcoming Penn State on Sunday.
