Men's Tennis Set for Four Home Matches in Four Days


The UCLA men’s tennis team (9-7, 1-3 Pac-12) returns to Los Angeles Tennis Center for the first time in 26 days Friday, when it hosts Washington (10-8, 1-3 Pac-12) to begin a stretch of four home matches in four days. The Bruins meet the Huskies at 2 p.m. PT, with the UCLA Band set to be in attendance. Oregon (12-9, 1-3 Pac-12) comes to LATC Saturday for another Pac-12 matchup, with that one scheduled to start at 1 p.m. A Monday doubleheader opposite UC San Diego (7-13, 0-3 Big West) follows, with those contests slated for 10:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. starts.

LAST TIME OUT

UCLA was bested by No. 24 Stanford in a 4-2 result April 8 at Taube Family Tennis Center. The Bruins collected the doubles point and later added to their tally when Timothy Li prevailed in singles play. The Cardinal controlled the top four singles courts, however, with Max Basing, Aryan Chaudhary, Arthur Fery and clincher Neel Rajesh ultimately proving victorious.

UCLA VS. WASHINGTON, OREGON AND UC SAN DIEGO

UCLA holds an all-time record of 31-3 versus Washington. In the programs’ most recent meeting, on April 22, 2022, the eighth-seeded Huskies prevailed over the fifth-seeded Bruins in a 4-3 result to reach the Pac-12 Championships final round at Libbey Park in Ojai, Calif. Jeffrey Fradkin, Karl Lee and Bryce Pereira were each victorious in singles play for UCLA, but Cesar Bouchelaghem won the day’s final match for UW. Clement Chidekh and Jack Davis also earned singles wins for the Huskies, who also narrowly took the doubles point. Against Oregon, UCLA has a 26-1 all-time mark. On April 3, 2022, the Bruins downed the Ducks by a 4-1 score at the Oregon Student Tennis Center. Occupying a singles court for the second time in as many matches – and just the third time in his dual-match career – Pereira turned in his first-ever clinching victory. Also recording singles wins for UCLA were Alexander Hoogmartens and Giacomo Revelli. Revelli was also part of the tandem – with Patrick Zahraj – that sealed the doubles point for the Bruins.
