Men's Tennis Hosts No. 1 Ohio State on Friday


UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State men’s tennis team is set to host No. 1 Ohio State on Friday, April 5 at 4 p.m. The match will be held in the Indoor Tennis Center, with a country club theme and a free button giveaway for fans. 

Senior Miko Eala, now ranked No. 98 nationally in the ITA Poll, enters the match with four-straight singles wins, all against conference opponents, adding to a total of 13 this season.  Freshman Nolan Ranger follows with 10 wins, and sophomore Stefan Simeunovic with eight singles wins. 

Simeunovic leads the squad with five doubles wins on the season. Eala follows with four wins, and freshmen Jack Martuccio and Alex Sterin follow each with three wins. 

EYEING THE BUCKEYES 

Ohio State enters Happy Valley ranked No. 1 nationally and are 22-1 overall (4-0 Big Ten). Their only loss comes from, then-ranked No. 12, Texas in mid-March. The Buckeyes boast five ranked singles players: #15 JJ Tracy, #18 Cannon Kinglsey, #24 Jack Anthrop, #28 Justin Boulais and #110 Alexander Bernard. The Buckeyes also have three ranked doubles duos – #2 Robert Cash and JJ Tracy, #13 Justin Boulais and Andrew Lutschaunig, and #47 Alexander Bernard and JJ Tracy.  

UP NEXT 

The Nittany Lions will finish off their home schedule next weekend on Friday, Apr. 12 against Michigan and Sunday Apr. 14 against Michigan State. Both matches will be held at the Indoor Tennis Center at 4 p.m.
