TEMPE– Arizona State men’s tennis opens up the 2024 home slate on Friday, January 12 with a pair of non-conference matches at Whiteman Tennis Center, first against Northern Arizona University at 11 a.m. MST, followed by Wichita State at 5 p.m. MST. Neither match will be streamed, but live stats will be available here.
Wichita State and Northern Arizona will compete in a neutral site match at 2:00 p.m. MST before the Sun Devils face the Shockers in the evening.
Sun Devil Outlook
The Sun Devils ended the 2022-23 campaign 14-12, finishing at No. 40 in the final ITA top-75 poll. ASU opened their season on the road last weekend in the Miami Invitational, though the final round of matches against the University of Miami was canceled due to inclement weather.
Scouting the Opponents
NAU is set to open their season against Arizona State after fishing the 2022-23 campaign 22-3, falling 4-3 to the No. 3 Idaho Vandals in the Big Sky Conference Championship. The Lumberjacks finished the season at No. 66 in the final ITA top-75 poll.
Wichita State also travels to Arizona with a clean slate, though they will compete against Grand Canyon University on Thursday prior to Friday’s match with the Sun Devils. The shockers ended the year with an 11-16 record, going just 1-9 on the road.
