Men’s Tennis Drops Match At Cornell

ITHACA, N.Y. – The Penn State men’s tennis team fell to Cornell on the road. The Blue and White dropped a 7-0 decision to the Big Red. 

DOUBLES 

Partnering at No. 2, Stefan Simeunovic and Jack Martuccio fell 6-3 to Eric Verdes and Petar Teodorovic. At No. 3, Miko Eala and Alex Sterin paired up against Radu Papoe and Samuel Paquette, but dropped their match 6-4. 

At the No. 1 spot, Nolan Ranger and Ari Cotoulas were tied 5-5 with Adit Sinha and Nathan Mao when it went unfinished, as the doubles point had already been won by Cornell before the conclusion of their match. 

SINGLES 

Eala played at No. 1 and put up a fight against Papoe, ranked 19th, but ultimately fell 6-2, 7-5. At No. 2, Ranger fell 6-4, 6-1 to Sinha. Simenovic played a tough match against Bradely Paliska at No. 3, but dropped 6-4, 7-6(5). Martuccio took the No. 4 spot, but fell 6-2, 6-4 to Felipe Pinzon. At the No. 5 spot, Cotoulas took on Verdes, but dropped his match 6-4, 6-3. Taking court No. 6, Sterin faced Noah Eisenberg, but fell 6-3, 6-1. 

UP NEXT 

The Blue and White will begin its Big Ten slate at home against Illinois on Friday, Mar. 22. The match is set to begin at 5 p.m. at the Indoor Tennis Center. Closing out the weekend, the Nittany Lions will also host Northwestern on Sunday, Mar. 24 at 1 p.m. at the Indoor Tennis Center.
