Men's Tennis Drops Final Regular Season Match At Nebraska


LINCOLN, Neb. – The Penn State men’s tennis team dropped its final regular season match, on the road, to No. 58 Nebraska. The Blue and White fought tough, but fell 7-0 to the Cornhuskers.  

Following the match, Penn State has been tabbed as the No. 9 seed in the Big Ten Tournament. The Nittany Lions will face Purdue in the first round. The match will be held at Northwestern on Thursday, April 25 at noon.

DOUBLES 

Miko Eala and Stefan Simeunovic partnered together at No. 1, but dropped their match 6-1 to Anton Shepp and Nic Wiedenhorn. On court No. 3, Ari Cotoulas and Alex Sterin fell to Leo Linquet and Shunya Maruyama, 6-2. 

At the second spot, Jack Martuccio and Nolan Ranger took on Calvin Mueller and Lars Johann. Penn State was leading 5-4 when the match went unfinished as the doubles point had already been claimed by Nebraska. 

SINGLES 

#79 Eala played in at the top spot, but dropped his match 6-4, 3-6, 10-5 to #119 Calvin Mueller. At No. 2, Simeunovic played a close match, but fell 1-6, 6-1, 7-6(1) to Shepp.

On court No. 3, Ranger dropped his match 6-2, 6-3, to Maruyama. Martuccio fell to Johann, 6-2, 7-5, at the No. 4 spot. Sterin dropped his match, 6-0, 6-3, at No. 5 against Roni Hietaranta. Stepping up at No. 6, Ritvik Nadikude fell to Rudi Christiansen, 6-1, 6-0.
