NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The ninth-ranked Tennessee men’s tennis squad is set to face in-state rival No. 56 Vanderbilt on Sunday afternoon at The Ensworth School.

LAST TIME OUT
UT (16-4, 5-1 SEC) traveled to the Bayou on March 17 and swept No. 29 LSU, posting ranked wins at the top-two doubles spots. Filip Pieczonka took down Julien Penzlin, 6-3, 6-4, at the No. 5 spot. Shunsuke Mitsui routed Aleksi Lofman in a 6-1, 7-6(8) effort on court two. Chris Li clinched the match in 6-2, 7-5 fashion over George Stoupe at the No. 5 spot.
 
SCOUTING VANDERBILT
Vanderbilt (11-7, 2-4 SEC) is coming off a gritty 4-3 win vs. No. 21 Auburn at home. Last weekend saw the Commodores split their road matches, recording a 4-3 victory over No. 51 Ole Miss and falling to No. 19 Mississippi State, 5-2.
 
No. 85 Danil Panarin boasts a 10-6 singles record in dual match play and is 1-5 in conference play atop the Dores’ lineup. Joubert Klopper and Michael Ross, ranked 54th in the nation, possess an 8-2 record as a duo and are 2-1 in SEC action.

SHUN AT NO. 2
Mitsui holds a strong 13-4 career mark at the No. 2 spot for the Vols and has defeated five ranked opponents in that position. The junior is 5-1 in conference action and is one win away from reaching 20 singles victories in 2023-24.
 
UP NEXT
Tennessee will host No. 28 Alabama on March 29 at Barksdale Stadium.
