Men’s Tennis Bested by Razorbacks in Fayetteville

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Florida Gators Men’s Tennis fell 4-3 in their Friday night matchup with the Arkansas Razorbacks in Fayetteville. The Gators now hold an 11-10 overall record and a 5-6 record in conference play.
 
How it Happened
The Gators lost a competitive doubles point in three close matches. Arkansas duo Manuel/San Franco defeated Gator pairing Henry Jefferson/Jeremy Jin 7-5, while Arkansas duo Barun/Horwood defeated Florida’s Nate Bonetto/Aidan Kim 7-6(2).
 
The Gators took the first singles point after a convincing win by Bonetto 6-0, 6-4. Bonetto’s 6-0 set marks the second time he’s shut out an opponent in a set this season with the first coming against Tennesee St. on March 12.
 
Kevin Edengren secure the next point for the Gators tying the match at two all. Edengren’s 6-3, 6-4 win marked his ninth singles win of the dual season. The freshman from Stockholm Sweden has become a late-season staple in Florida’s lineup. He continued his hot streak, coming fresh off a SEC Freshman of the Week nod after winning his match against Vanderbilt in straight sets.
 
Tanapatt Nirundorn delivered his most clutch performance of the year on court five. Nirundorn took his first set 6-4 before Arkansas’ Benedikt Emesz notched his own 6-4 score in the second set. The two battled all the way to a third set tiebreak, before Nirundorn outlasted the Razorback Sophomore 8-6 in the tiebreak to tie the dual match at three points apiece.
 
The battle boiled down to Kim on court two, who fought to a third set after dropping a close first set 6-7 (3) and taking set two 6-3. Kim fell to Planelles Ripoll in set three,…
