Men's Tennis Advances to Mountain Region Finals


ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico – The Utah men’s tennis team continued action this morning at the ITA Regional Championships for the Mountain Region. The team made advancements and placed in the final round of competition for both double and single play.

The day began with the semifinal round of doubles, as Berk Bugarikj and Patrik Trhac faced David Cierny and Bodin Zarkovic from Utah state. After a tough and very tight match, the Ute duo came out victorious with a 5-7, 6-4, 10-8 win.

This win placed the Ute duo in the final round of play, which will take place tomorrow, Monday, October 17. Bugarikj/Trhac will face Francisco Bascon and Matteo Masala from Idaho.

The competition continued with singles play, with the Utah’s Geronimo Espin Busleiman competing moving into the final round of play. Espin Busleiman defeated Simon Arca Costas from Boise State this morning, finishing 6-4, 7-5. Tomorrow, Espin Busleiman will take on David Cierny from Utah State.

 

The final rounds of main draw doubles and singles will take place tomorrow, Monday, October 17.
