Men’s Tennis Adds Kazuki Matsuno to Coaching Staff

EAST LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State men’s tennis added former Spartan letterwinner Kazuki Matsuno to the MSU coaching staff as an assistant coach, head coach Harry Jadun announced Friday.

Matsuno returns to the Spartan men’s tennis program after a four-year playing career in the Green & White from 2019-23. He will also serve as the team’s recruiting coordinator.

“We are so excited to add Kazuki to our coaching staff. Kazuki brings a wealth of knowledge to the court each day and has proven himself to be a natural leader over the past four years as a student-athlete,” said Jadun. “As he transitions to this new role within our program, he will bring an energy and enthusiasm that will help propel us to our ultimate goal of competing for Big Ten championships. I can’t wait for our guys to get back on campus and get to work with Kaz.”

Matsuno, a four-year letterwinner for the Spartans, played in 51 career doubles matches and 20 singles matches at MSU. He earned Big Ten All-Academic honors in 2021, 2022 and 2023 and was named MSU’s Big Ten Sportsmanship Award recipient in 2023.

“I’m extremely thankful for Harry and everyone that made it possible for me to be in this position. It’s truly a blessing to be able to stay in such an amazing community at Michigan State,” said Matsuno. “I’m excited to be working for the program and the people that shaped me to be the man I am today. God has blessed me with this opportunity, and I will continue to work for him in this new capacity here at MSU.”

A native of Chicago, Illinois, Matsuno earned his bachelor’s degree in psychology from Michigan State in 2023.
