CLEMSON, S.C. — The Clemson women’s tennis team made two appearances in the ITA’s preseason rankings released on Tuesday, with Cristina Mayorova earning the No. 77 singles spot and the doubles pair of Ali DeSpain and Samantha Buyckx claiming No. 17 nationally.

Mayorova will enter her junior year coming off a sophomore season in which she took down two nationally ranked opponents while playing primarily from Court 1. She finished the 2022 season ranked No. 103.

DeSpain and Buyckx went 13-7 in doubles play last season, including a 3-2 record against ranked opponents. The two brought down the No. 11 ranked Virginia pairing of Emma Navarro and Hibah Shaikh. They also held a 5-4 lead over the then top-ranked pair in the nation of North Carolina’s Fiona Crawley and Elizabeth Scotty, but the match was abandoned.

The two reached a season-high ranking of No. 30 in the nation and participated in the first round of the NCAA Doubles Tournament.
