Maryland Tennis Competes in the ITA All-American Championships


CARY, N.C. – The University of Maryland women’s tennis team traveled to Cary, North Carolina this past weekend to compete in the ITA All-American Championships. Graduate student Hannah McColgan and senior Selma Cadar competed in the singles, while graduate student Marta Perez Mur and McColgan teamed up for doubles. 

 

Perez Mur and McColgan won both of their pre-qualifying matches before falling short in a pair of qualifying matchups. 

 

Breaking down the action:

 

Singles: 

 

Pre-qualifying singles:

1st round: Hannah McColgan lost to Safiya Carrington, LSU (1-6, 1-6)

2nd round Consolation: Hannah McColgan lost to Carley Briggs, Florida (1-6, 1-6)

 

Qualifying Singles:

1st round: Selma Cadar vs. Snow Han, USC (0-6, 6-4, 4-6)

2nd round consolation: Selma Cadar vs. Clarissa Hand, Northwestern (3-6, 3-6)

 

Doubles:

 

Pre-Qualifying Doubles:

1st round: McColgan/Perez Mur BYE

2nd round: McColgan/Perez Mur vs. Zehender/Fernandez Villa, Wyoming (8-6)

3rd round: McColgan/Perez Mur vs. Schoppe/Saric, Florida State (8-2)

 

Qualifying Doubles:

1st round: Vishwase/Komar, LSU vs. McColgan/Perez Mur (8-6)

2nd round consolation: Mohr/Stammel, Vanderbilt vs. McColgan/Perez Mur (8-2)
