COLLEGE PARK, MD — Maryland will play in the ITA Kickoff Weekend in Chapel Hill, on Jan. 27-28, 2023 as the Terrapins will take on the host Tar Heels on Jan. 27 in the opening round. The other match-up pits Utah vs. Charlotte. Winners of each match will advance to the championship on Saturday, Jan. 28. There will also be a consolation match played on Saturday. The regional winner advances to the 2023 ITA Indoor National Championships, in Seattle, Wash.
The Terps are playing in the event for the first time since 2018 when Maryland played out at Pepperdine.
Maryland is coming off a record-setting season, winning a program record 18 wins. The Terps were ranked No. 4 in the ITA Atlantic Region in 2022 with Selma Cadar ranked No. 8 in Singles and Marta Perez Mur at No. 15 in Singles. Cadar and Mary Brumfield were No. 10 in the Doubles.
