WEST POINT, N.Y. — Jackeline Lopez of Rutgers women’s tennis competed in the singles bracket at ITA Super Regionals in West Point, N.Y. on Friday. The junior competed in a round of 32 matchup against Cornell’s Victoria Zhao and a consolation round of 16 competition, taking on Sophie Edwards of Boston College.
Singles
To begin her run at Super Regionals, Lopez took on Zhao in the singles round of 32. The pair split the first two sets, with Zhao claiming the first, 6-3, and Lopez winning the second, 6-4. Ultimately, Lopez fell in the third set, and the Red Storm’s freshman moved on to the round of 16.
Following the loss, Lopez moved into the tournament’s consolation bracket, taking on Edwards in the round of 16. The Scarlet Knight claimed a 7-5 win in the first set, but fell to the opposition, ending her Super Regionals run.
