Local Five-Star Brandon Carpico Signs with Ohio State – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State director of tennis Ty Tucker has received a national letter of intent from local five-star prospect Brandon Carpico. The nearby Gahanna Lincoln High School standout will join the program next fall.

“Brandon is a Buckeye through and through,” said Tucker. “His style of play is a great foundation to make giant leaps to play at an incredible level. We are thrilled to have Brandon stay in Columbus which has been a recipe for our success. We are looking forward for him to be out of the stands and on to the court.”

Carpico won the Boys 18 national doubles championship in this past summer as well as pulling the double at the Midwest Closed Boys 18, winning both the singles and doubles titles. He was a quarterfinalist at the Boys 16 national doubles championship last summer. Carpico rose to as high as No. 34 in the American junior rankings.

“Growing up in Columbus, the dream was to one day play for the Buckeyes,” said Carpico. “I am super excited for the opportunity and can’t wait to see what the future holds.”

He is a two-time first team All-Ohio honoree as he won the boys state title in 2021 and finished runner-up in 2022. His championship in 2021 was the first state title in tennis in Gahanna Lincoln history.

Carpico plays for Chris Schwinnen at Gahanna Lincoln and is coached by Buckeye All-American and National Champion Chase Buchanan. Brandon is the son of John and Susan Carpico and has one sister Hayley.
