WACO, Texas – Four individuals from the Tennessee women’s tennis team traveled to Baylor University and completed a successful weekend in the H-E-B Invitational. Seniors Esther Adeshina, Lauren Anzalotta, Sofia Cabezas and Eleonora Molinaro all competed over the weekend and compiled a 17-3 record.
The three-day event kicked off on Friday, with four doubles matches against pairs from Nebraska, Missouri and Illinois. The Big Orange cruised past each of their four opponents and posted a 4-0 mark in doubles play. After doubles, the quartet faced four singles opponents from Illinois. The Lady Vols stayed hot and captured four consecutive wins to cap off the first day of competition. The squad finished day one with an 8-0 record.
On Saturday, the team picked up right where they left off and tallied four more doubles victories over pairs from Illinois and Baylor. Singles play followed and Cabezas, Anzalotta and Molinaro each recorded wins over individuals from Nebraska.
The tournament concluded on Sunday with Anzalotta, Molinaro and Adeshina each picking up singles victories over Baylor during singles action. Anzalotta, Cabezas and Molinaro each completed the tournament with a 3-0 record in singles.
Tennessee returns home to host the ITA Ohio Valley Region Tournament at Goodfriend Tennis Center, Oct. 18-23.
