Kuczer Earns 2023 SEC All-Tournament Team Nod

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Daria Kuczer of the Tennessee women’s tennis team was named to the 2023 SEC Women’s Tennis All-Tournament team on Sunday afternoon after the Lady Vols’ semifinal run at Billingsley Tennis Center on the campus of the University of Arkansas.

“I am so happy for Daria marking the SEC All-Tournament Team,” head coach Alison Ojeda said. “She has always been an outstanding player and now she is starting to get some recognition for that because of her performance on the court. Her dedication to the game and her commitment to her overall growth is what makes her such a winner.”

Kuczer posted a 3-0 week at the tournament, taking both of her matches in doubles while going 1-0 in singles play.

With Eleonora Molinaro in doubles, Kuczer clinched the doubles point against both Kentucky and Georgia. The pair kicked off the tournament with a 6-3 win over Ellie Eades/Makayla Mills before dropping Georgia’s No. 3 pairing of Meg Kowalski/Lea Ma, 6-3, to take the doubles point from the Bulldogs.

In singles, Kuczer rolled past Eades of Kentucky, 6-3, 6-2, for her 15th dual victory of the season. The talented fifth-year senior went unfinished in her match at No. 3 against Georgia’s #66 Mell Reasco, but was building momentum in the closing stages of the match as the score read 6-1, 4-6, 5-5.

For Kuczer, it marks her first career SEC All-Tournament Team nod. Her previous conference recognition came on Feb. 8, when she was named Player of the Week after a strong weekend against Furman and NC State.

With the honor, Kuczer becomes the fifth different Lady Vol to make it on the SEC All-Tournament Team and sixth selection in program history. The acclaim marks the first time Tennessee has had an individual make the All-Tournament Team in three consecutive years as Rebeka Mertena made it in 2021 and Elza Tomase did so in 2022.
