Johns & Rodenas Fall in Three Sets in NCAA Quarterfinals

STILLWATER, Okla. – Duke redshirt senior Garrett Johns and sophomore Pedro Rodenas dropped a three-set nail-biter in the NCAA Doubles Championship quarterfinals on Thursday at the Greenwood Tennis Center.

The No. 1 overall seed in the national tournament fell 6-4 in their opening set to [5-8] seed Etienne Donnet and Natan Rodrigues of Louisville but rebounded for a thrilling 7-6 (0) tiebreak win in the second to force a decisive third frame. Unfortunately, Duke’s familiar ACC foe bounced back for a 10-7 tiebreak win in the third set to earn the victory and advance to Friday’s semifinals.

Duke’s top doubles duo conclude their season with a 22-5 overall mark, including a 16-4 record against nationally ranked opponents.
