Jeff Laski to Serve as Honorary Captain vs. Duke


CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — Illinois men’s tennis all-time great Jeff Laski will be the Fighting Illini’s honorary captain when Illinois takes on Duke on Friday at Atkins Tennis Center. The Illini and Blue Devils compete at 6 p.m. CT.

Laski competed for the Illini from 1996-2000 and had a 108-52 all-time record while wearing the Orange and Blue, tied for the ninth-most singles wins in program history. He is a part of the prestigious “Century Club” by also having 100 wins in doubles as well as singles. Laski was named All-Big Ten and earned All-American status in the 2000 season. 

Laski also holds the program record for most doubles wins in a single season with a 39-12 record in 1998-99. He participated in the 1999 NCAA Doubles Championship with Gavin Sontag, making it to the Round of 32. Laski and the Illini dominated in conference play, taking home both the Big Ten regular-season and tournament titles in every year of his Illinois career.
