SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The University of Notre Dame women’s tennis team fought hard on its trip to North Carolina, dropping tightly contested battles at No. 10 NC State and Wake Forest on Friday and Sunday, respectively.

Julia Andreach and Bojana Pozder served as shining lights for the Fighting Irish over the weekend, both going 2-0 in singles and notching top 50 wins against the Wolfpack. Andreach took down the nation’s No. 27 ranked player 6-2, 6-4, while Pozder defeated No. 44, 1-6, 6-3, 6-1 in the team’s 5-2 loss. With their wins on Sunday, Andreach extended her unbeaten singles record on the season to 10-0, while Pozder moved to an impressive 10-1.

The Irish secured the doubles point on Sunday over the Demon Deacons with wins from Carrie Beckman and Akari Matsuno at No. 3, followed by a win at No. 2 by Nibi Ghosh and Yashna Yellayi. Notre Dame took the momentum and got off to a hot start in singles, but Wake Forest rallied hard to eventually win four of the six singles contests and take the match 4-3.

Notre Dame completes a three-match ACC road slate with a battle against the Louisville Cardinals on Sunday, March 10. First serve is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
