Illini Battle in First Day of Commodore Invite


 CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Illinois men’s tennis fought hard on Friday on the first day of the Commodore Invite, but ultimately lost both doubles matches. 

Sophomore Mathis Debru and freshman Kenta Miyoshi paired up to go against Georgia Tech’s Andres Martin and Rohan Sachdev, but lost 8-4. 

With the uneven amount of Illini, graduate student Nic Meister paired up with South Carolina’s Lucas da Silva. The pair narrowly dropped the match, 8-6, to Florida’s Will Grant and Axel Nefve. 

Up next

The Fighting Illini will continue tomorrow at 9 a.m. with two rounds of singles play.
