Huskies Leave San Diego With Four Victories Sunday


SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The Washington women’s tennis team concluded the Torero Tennis Classic in San Diego Sunday with two singles and two doubles wins.

The Dawgs tested out different doubles pairings in the final day of action and both teams picked up wins.

The young pair of Catherine Gagnon and Carina Syrtveit dominated in a 6-1 victory over a Utah duo. Zehra Suko and McKenna Koenig bested Cataldi and Bordereau (University of Wisconsin, Madison), 6-3.

Suko picked up her first singles win of the weekend in two sets over Utah’s Dylan Lolofie, while Syrtveit fought in three sets to best the Utes’ Valletta.

Sunday’s Doubles Results

  • Gagnon/Syrtveit (UW) def. Kamper/Lolofie (Utah), 6-1
  • Suko/Koenig (UW) def. Cataldi/Bordereau (Wisconsin Madison), 6-3

Next up for the Huskies is ITA Sectionals Nov. 7-10 in Los Angeles.
