Hoeyeraal Is The Third Wildcat To Be Named Pac-12 Player of the Week

TUCSON, Ariz.– The Pac-12 has announced No.116 Herman Hoeyeraal as the Player of the Week for men’s tennis.

Hoeyeraal holds a No.116 singles ranking and a No. 23 doubles ranking. He currently holds a 6-1 singles record for the spring season. Hoeyeraal held a great impact on the Wildcats leaving New York 3-1, going undefeated in singles and 3-1 in doubles

The Wildcats started their week off with a 6-1 victory over St. John’s where Hoeyeraal and doubles pair, Eric Padgham, defeated Leon Petko and Ignacio Vinas 6-3.

To start off the weekend, Hoeyeraal and Padgham secured the very first win for the Wildcats at the ITA National Indoor Championship taking down No. 3 Texas’ Pierre-Yves Bailly and Eshan Talluri 6-4. He then went on to clinch the match advancing Arizona to the quarterfinals 4-6, 6-4, 7-6(5).

The rest of his singles matches were straight-set victories. Hoeyeraal dominated Luciano Tacchi (No. 6 Wake Forest) 6-3, 6-2 and earned a ranked win against No.103 Luciano Tacchi (No.10 Texas A&M) 7-5, 6-3. Both victories put Arizona on the board after falling short for the doubles points, leading to their final win of the weekend against Texas 4-2.

Hoeyeraal is the third Wildcats to be named Player of the Week for Arizona this season.
