Heck, Clark, Petrov Take Wins in Neitzel Family Open


CHAMPAIGN, Ill.Former Illini Zeke Clark and current Illini Alex Petrov and Hunter Heck all were victorious on the fourth day of the Neitzel Family Open, a $15,000 USTA Professional Tennis Circuit Event  hosted at Atkins Tennis Center.

Heck started the day with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Axel Nefve before Clark took his 6-3, 6-4 win over Marko Stakusic. 

Sophomore Kenta Miyoshi took the first loss in the day, falling 7-6 (5), 6-4 to William Grant. Petrov turned things around with a 7-5, 6-2 victory over Gabriele Thomas Brancatelli. 

Oliver Okonkwo dropped his match, 6-3, 6-1 to Patrick Maloney before Miyoshi and Clark won their doubles match, 6-2, 2-6, 10-8, over Gabriel Evans and Chad Kissell moving themselves onto the semifinals as well.

Zeke Clark def. Marko Stakusic – 6-3, 6-4

William Grant def. Kenta Miyoshi – 7-6 (5), 6-4

Alex Petrov def. Gabriele Thomas Brancatelli – 7-5, 6-2

Patrick Maloney def. Oliver Okonkwo – 6-3, 6-1

Kenta Miyoshi/Zeke Clark def. Gabriel Evans/Chad Kissell –  6-2, 2-6, 10-8

Alex Petrov vs. Zeke Clark – not before 12 p.m.

Zeke Clark/Kenta Miyoshi vs. Draxl/Sorbo or Fenty/Maloney
