Gobatie Joins Wildcats Women’s Tennis Staff

TUCSON – Jordan Gobatie has joined the Arizona women’s tennis staff as an assistant coach, as announced by head coach Ryan Stotland on Monday.

“It is an honor to have Jordan join our program,” said Stotland. “We are lucky to have him. I have been on the other side of his coaching for many years and he is well-respected in the coaching community. His positivity and his personality are infectious. We know how sought-after he is, and we are excited he chose to join our program. We know he is a superstar in the making and he will help continue to help bring our program to new heights.”

Gobatie comes to Tucson from Boise State where he has worked with the women’s tennis program since August of 2022. In his season with the Broncos he helped the team to 13 wins that included a run to the semifinals in the Mountain West Championship.

“I’m unbelievably excited to get to work here at the University of Arizona,” Gobatie said. “This athletic program has always been special, and I’m humbled to be a part of it. I want to thank Coach Stotland and the entire Arizona administration for trusting in my abilities to help move this program forward! I can’t wait to serve the University of Arizona and empower these student-athletes as we move into the future! Bear Down!”

Prior to his time Boise, Gobatie worked as a volunteer assistant coach at Arizona State. The Sun Devils compiled a 32-17 record across those two seasons and achieved a Pac-12 Championship Final berth in 2022. Arizona State made the NCAA Tournament in both of Gobatie’s seasons.

The 2018-19 season saw Gobatie as an assistant coach at his alma mater, NAU. The team won its first Big Sky Tournament title since 1999. Overall, NAU finished the season with its second-ever NCAA Tournament berth and a 9-1 conference record.

Gobatie was a First Team All-Big Sky honoree in NAU in 2015.
