Gator Fall Invite Wraps and Jin Captures ITF Tallahassee Crown

Florida men’s tennis wrapped action at the Gator Fall Invite on Sunday at Linder Stadium at the Alfred A. Ring Tennis Complex, taking three of four singles matches and splitting two doubles courts.

While action continued in Gainesville, UF freshman Jeremy Jin captured the championship at the International Tennis Federation (ITF) M15 Tallahassee event, defeating Felix Corwin in the final, 7-5, 6-3.

Back at UF, Nate Bonetto and JanMagnus Johnson posted a win in doubles action, topping UCF’s Francisco Llanes and Liam Branger, 6-4.

Bonetto picked up a straight-sets win in singles action for the second straight day, downing Mehdi Benchakroun, 6-2, 6-4. Tanapatt Nirundorn played his third three-setter in as many days, winning for the second time by staging a gritty comeback to knock off Santiago Giamichelle, 3-6, 6-3, 7-5.

The final match on the court turned out to be the match of the weekend. JanMagnus Johnson dropped the first set and trailed 5-2 in the second to Llanes before reeling off five straight games to win the second, 7-5. Johnson locked down the match in the third, taking a three-and-a-half hour marathon victory, 3-6, 7-5, 6-2.
