Columbia, S.C. – No. 4 South Carolina men’s tennis continues its non-conference schedule on Thursday with a match against No. 9 Wake Forest at 3:00 p.m. at the Carolina Indoor Tennis Center located at 523 Superior St.

Gamecock Notables
- South Carolina is ranked No. 4 in the latest ITA Coaches Top-25 poll. The team has been ranked inside the top-5 for the entirety of the 2024 dual season.
- The Gamecocks are off to a 3-1 start on the season with an upset of then-No. 1 Virginia in Charlottesville to start the season but most recently suffering a narrow loss to NC State at home.
- In the ITA Singles rankings, senior Toby Samuel made his first appearance of the season, coming in at No. 50. Freshman Jelani Sarr also made his first career appearance in the rankings at No. 76.
- James Story and Casey Hoole are the first Gamecock pair to appear in the ITA Doubles rankings this season, coming in at No. 60. The duo is 1-2 together this season with their lone win coming over then-No. 13 Joseph Wayand and Martin Borisiouk.
- Samuel is a perfect 3-0 at the No. 1 position this season with ranked wins over Nos. 22 and 120.
- Sarr is 14-8 overall this season and 2-2 in dual play. The freshman has been holding down the No. 3 position for South Carolina and has five ranked wins on his resume with the highest over then-No. 17 Kenta Miyoshi.
Scouting the Demon Deacons
- Wake Forest is ranked No. 9 in the latest ITA Coaches Top-25 poll – their highest ranking of the season.
- The Demon Deacon are 6-2 overall this season with ranked wins over then-No. 20 Florida and then-No. 9 Columbia. Their two losses have come on the road at then-No. 6 Tennessee and No. 1 Ohio State.
- Wake Forest has three individuals in the ITA singles rankings – No. 23 Filippo Moroni, No. 49 DK Suresh, and No. 106 Franco Capalbo.
