TALLAHASSEE– The Florida State women’s tennis team (13-9, 5-6 ACC) swept both Louisville and FAMU 4-0 on Saturday.
“We are excited that we finished our home season with two great wins,” head coach Jen Hyde said. “The girls are competing at a high level right now and it’s happening at a really good time.”
Prior to the first match, Mila Saric and Kianah Motosono were honored for senior day.
The Seminoles kicked off the first match with wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles to clinch the doubles point.
Florida State carried dominance into singles when they won the first set in all six singles matches. Alice Amendola extended the lead to 2-0 when she won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 6 singles.
Vic Allen put the Seminoles one point away from victory when she won 6-0, 6-3 at No. 1 singles against the 109th-ranked Andrea Di Palma. Freshman Kristyna Lavickova clinched the team victory when she won 6-2, 6-2 at No. 4 singles.
Against FAMU, Florida State won at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles to take the early 1-0 lead.
The Seminoles continued their excellent play in singles. Motosono won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6 singles and Olympe Lancelot also won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4. Amendola gave Florida State the 4-0 victory when she won 6-0, 6-2 at No. 5.
