PALOS VERDES, Calif. – Dominique Rolland and Eric Padgham claimed the Jack Kramer doubles championship after defeating four impressive teams to do so. In the final round, Rolland and Padgham walked away with an 8-5 victory over upperclassmen pair Chikaya Sato and Johannes Seeman (SDSU) who knocked out Jared Horwood and Hiroki Sakagawa in the initial round of 16.
The freshmen team took down second-seeded Neo Niedner and Lambert Ruland (USD) also 8-5 in the semifinals. Rolland/Padgham beat another Southern California duo Colter Smith and Noah Berry (Cal Poly) 8-6 to advance from the quarterfinals. And in round one of doubles play the Wildcats defeated Oregon’s Luke Vandecasteele and Ray Lo 8-3.
This marks the first time Arizona has ever won a championship at the Jack Kramer Collegiate Classic since its commencement in 2011. Rolland and Padgham make history for the program as they join UCLA, Baylor, TCU, UCSB, USC and Pepperdine on the championship trophy.
