Fodor Earns First All-Big Ten Honor


WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – After one of the best campaigns in singles play in Purdue women’s tennis history, junior Csilla Fodor was named All-Big Ten by the league’s coaches on Thursday afternoon. It was the first conference honor of her career. 

Fodor went 29-7 during the 2021-22 season with a 16-5 mark in spring dual play. Her 29 singles victories tied for the third most in a single season by a Boilermaker in program history. 

Fodor rolled to a 13-2 mark during the fall campaign, opening with eight straight wins. Fodor reached the semifinals of the ITA Ohio Valley Regional in the fall.In the dual spring season, Fodor dropped just one of her first 13 matches. She posted a 6-4 mark in Big Ten play. For her efforts, Fodor climbed to a personal-best No. 71 in the ITA rankings.

Fodor went 4-1 against ranked opposition, downing No. 33 Thasaporn Naklo from Iowa State in straight sets in February.

In doubles action, Fodor went 17-13 on the year with a 12-8 mark in the spring. She was 11-6 at No. 1

Carmen Gallardo Guevara was named Purdue’s Big Ten Sportsmanship Award winner. The freshman posted a 21-11 mark on the year with a 10-9 clip in dual play. Gallardo Guevara, along with fellow freshmen Tara Katarina Milic and Juana Larranaga, combined to win 55 singles matches over the course of the fall and spring.
