Florida State Travels Northeast For Pair of ACC Matches

TALLAHASSEE – The Florida State women’s tennis team travels northeast to face Syracuse on Friday and Boston College on Sunday.

The Seminoles are 5-3 on the season and look to start off strong in ACC play. Florida State enters this weekend ranked 35th in the national team rankings.

Senior Vic Allen is coming off a 6-1, 6-4 win at No. 2 singles against Old Dominion’s Sharar Biran, who is ranked 124th nationally. Allen is 5-2 in the spring season and is a perfect 3-0 a No. 2 singles.

Senior Kianah Motosono and junior Ellie Schoppe remain a perfect 4-0 in doubles in the 2023 spring season. Junior Anna Arkadianou is ranked 87th in the national singles rankings and has played at the No. 1 spot in every match she has appeared in this season.

Syracuse is 7-0 on the season after a 4-3 win at Boston College on February 18th and is ranked 53rd in the national team rankings. The Orange is led by junior Ines Fonte, who is 7-0 on the season.

Boston College is 7-2 on the season and hosts Miami on Friday prior to Sunday’s matchup. The Eagles are ranked 46th in the national team rankings and are led by junior Marice Aguiar. Aguiar is coming off a 7-6, 4-6, 6-2 win at No. 1 singles against Syracuse and is ranked 119th nationally.

Florida State and Syracuse’s match begins at 4 p.m. at the Skytop Tennis Courts. Sunday’s match against Boston College begins at 10 a.m. at the Brighton Athletics Center. Live stats and video will be available on Seminoles.com.
