Florida State Hosts Trio of Matches in Final Homestand of 2023 Season

TALLAHASSEE – The Florida State women’s tennis team hosts three matches this week in the team’s final homestand of the 2023 spring season.

The Seminoles face Notre Dame on Thursday and continue with Saturday’s doubleheader against Louisville and FAMU.

Florida State is 10-9 on the season and enters this week’s matches ranked 39th in the national team rankings.

Junior Ellie Schoppe is coming off a 6-3, 1-6, 6-1 win against the No. 14-ranked Carson Tanguilig of North Carolina.

Florida State’s Vic Allen also secured a 6-7 (4), 1-0 victory against the 70th-ranked Cameron Morra of Duke at No. 1 singles. Allen is ranked No. 79 in the national singles rankings.

Notre Dame is 13-7 on the season and is ranked No. 23 in the nation. The Irish are led by senior Page Freeman who is ranked 53rd in the nation.

Louisville comes into this weekend’s matchup with an 8-11 record. The Cardinals are led by sophomore Tyra Ricardson, who leads the team with 10 wins on the season.

FAMU is 8-10 on the season, and sophomore Sara Rakim has a team-high seven wins in singles. Florida State defeated the Rattlers 4-0 on January 27th in a match played indoors due to inclement weather in Tallahassee.

Thursday’s match against Notre Dame begins at 4:30 p.m., and Saturday’s action begins against Louisville at noon and continues against FAMU at 4:00 p.m. Live stats and video from all matches will be available on Seminoles.com. Admission to the Scott Speicher Memorial Tennis Center is free.
