Clemson, S.C. – Five Tigers have been named to the Academic All-ACC Women’s Tennis team in Head Coach Boomer Saia’s first season, tying the program record set last season. The ACC office announced Tuesday that Sophia Hatton, Eleni Louka, Jenna Thompson, Alina Tsyurpalevych, and Leigh Van Zyl received the honor. This marks Thompson’s third consecutive season named to the team and the second honor for Hatton and Van Zyl.
To be eligible for consideration for the All-ACC Academic team, a student-athlete, regardless of classification, must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during her academic career. In addition, student-athletes must have competed in 50 percent of their team’s contests and/or the ACC Championships and/or the NCAA Championships during the most recent season.
Hatton recorded a standout season, leading the Tigers with 19 singles wins and 18 doubles wins. The pairing of Hatton and Tsyurpalevych led the Tigers with 12 victories on the season. Louka led the Tigers on court one and reached an ITA singles ranking as high as 86 in singles. Louka ended her career as a Tiger with 57 singles wins and 9 this season. Thompson had a breakout season, winning 15 singles matches and 13 doubles with Louka on the season. Van Zyl ended the season with 13 singles wins and five doubles wins.
