Five Huskies Advance In Regionals Main Draw

SEATTLE – Washington put five men into the round of 32 at ITA Northwest Regionals on Friday on the second of six days of competition at Nordstrom Tennis Center. Three UW doubles teams are also into the round of 32 which starts bright and early again on Saturday.

 

Nedim Suko, Cesar Bouchelaghem, Soham Purohit, Ivan Sodan, and Dzianis Zharyn all advanced today with victories over regional opposition.

 

Suko didn’t drop a game in his win over Valentin Faure and Bouchelaghem was also dominant in a 6-1, 6-2 win over Francisco Duran.

 

Brett Pearson and Rohan Belday dropped their matches today after qualifying for the main draw with wins on Thursday.

 

Purohit and Belday capped the evening’s action for UW with a 8-5 win in doubles over Oregon’s Pouatcha/Errey. They’ll be joined in the doubles round of 32 by Bouchelaghem/Zharyn and Suko/Sodan, who had first round byes.

 

Players are vying for two singles bids and one doubles bid to the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championship next month.
