GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Duke’s Chloe Beck was selected the Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Tennis Player of the Week and Miami’s Mia Mack was named the ACC Women’s Tennis Freshman of the Week. This is Beck’s second and Mack’s fourth weekly accolade of the season.
Beck posted a pair of singles wins along with a doubles victory while helping lift No. 6 Duke to an undefeated week of ACC play and its 11th straight win, sweeping No. 24 Wake Forest, 4-0, and edging No. 7 NC State, 4-3, in a top-10 battle. In the No. 1 slot, fifth-ranked Beck posted a straight set, 6-1, 6-1, win over No. 47 Casie Wooten of Wake Forest before registering another straight set, 6-3, 6-3, victory over No. 18 Diana Shnaider of NC State. Beck and Ellie Coleman clinched the doubles point over the Wolfpack with a 6-4 victory over No. 10 Shnaider and Alana Smith.
Mack registered an undefeated singles record over the weekend as the No. 13 Hurricanes earned a pair of ACC wins, sweeping Louisville, 7-0, and downing No. 32 Notre Dame, 5-2. The Löchgau, Germany, native won both her singles matches at the No. 3 position in straight sets, a 6-4, 6-3, win over Louisville and a 6-2, 6-4, victory over Notre Dame. She added a win at the No. 5 doubles position with a 6-4 win over the Cardinals.
