DURHAM – No. 15 Duke men’s tennis hosts No. 65 Virginia Tech and No. 3 Virginia this weekend for two ranked ACC contests.
The Blue Devils welcome the Hokies on Friday at 6 p.m. before hosting the Cavaliers on Sunday at 2 p.m. Friday’s contest will be held in Sheffield Indoor Tennis Center, with Sunday’s match being played at Ambler Tennis Stadium. Two Duke singles players and one doubles pair were ranked by the ITA in its most recent listing. Senior Garrett Johns and sophomore Pedro Rodenas placed No. 47 and No. 66 in singles, respectively, while the doubles duo of graduate students Michael Heller and Andrew Zhang rank No. 21.

HISTORY WITH NO. 65 VIRGINIA TECH
Friday’s contest will be the 37th all-time meeting between the two programs with the Blue Devils holding the 31-6 edge on the series. Duke won the teams’ last meeting a year ago, 4-3, and have registered wins in six of the last 10 matchups.
SCOUTING THE HOKIES
Virginia Tech brings a 7-3 overall record into the contest but dropped its last two outings to No. 22 NC State and No. 3 Wake Forest. Senior Ryan Fishback is the lone Hokie ranked in the national polls, securing the No. 60 spot. Fishback holds a 7-2 ledger on the top court, including a 1-2 mark against nationally ranked opponents. Fishback is also ranked in doubles action with teammate Maxime St. Hilaire and the pairing hold a 6-2 dual match record.
HISTORY WITH NO. 3 VIRGINIA
The Blue Devils and Cavaliers have faced off 100 previous times, including once already this season at the ITA National Team Indoor Championships. The Cavaliers claimed the win, 4-2, but Duke holds a slim 52-48 edge on the all-time series. Duke’s last win over Virginia came on March 30, 2018, following its 4-3 victory in Durham.
