DURHAM – The draws for the 2024 ITA Division I Men’s National Team Indoor Championships were released on Tuesday and Duke men’s tennis secured the No. 13 seed.
Duke is scheduled to face off against fourth-seeded Virginia on Friday at 9 a.m. in its opening round matchup at the Philip & Cheryl Milstein Family Tennis Center on the campus of Columbia University. The USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center (USTA) will also serve as a host site for some matched during the event.
The Blue Devils have qualified for the main national indoor tournament 23 times and are making their first appearance at the event since 2018. Duke has an all-time record of 32-33 at the tournament and won two matches 11 times. The best finishes for Duke have been semifinal trips in 2011, 2006, 2001, 2000 and 1999.
A stacked lineup of nationally ranked teams will descend upon New York City to vie for the ITA Team Indoor title. The draw includes Ohio State (1), TCU (2), Texas (3), Virginia (4), Tennessee (5), Wake Forest (6), South Carolina (7), Columbia (8), Harvard (9), Texas A&M (10), Michigan (11), USC (12), Duke (13), Arizona (14), Arizona State (15) and Alabama (16). TCU won last year’s championship in Chicago, Ill., defeating Texas 4-0 in the final.
As a single-elimination tournament, teams will play one match each day with the championship match being played on Monday at noon. However, all teams are guaranteed to play at least three matches over the weekend through either the main or consolation draw.
A TrackTennis live stream, as well as iOnCourt live scoring, will be available for every match at the 2024 Division I Men’s Indoor Championship. Cracked Racquets will also once again provide on-site commentary during the tournament. Fans can find the broadcast on the Cracked Racquets YouTube channel.
