Duke Falls to Columbia to Conclude ITA National Team Indoors

NEW YORK – No. 15 Duke men’s tennis dropped a 4-0 decision to No. 10 Columbia during its final matchup of the ITA National Team Indoor Championships at Philip & Cheryl Milstein Family Tennis Center.
 
Duke falls to 8-4 overall, while Columbia improves to 8-2.
 
How It Happened

  • Alex Kotzen and Sachin Palta began doubles play for the home side with a 6-3 victory over Faris Khan and Connor Krug on court three. Theo Winegar and Michael Zheng then clinched the doubles point following their 6-2 win over No. 11 Michael Heller and Andrew Zhang on the top court. The match between Garrett Johns and Pedro Rodenas against No. 24 Nicolas Kotzen and Max Westphal on court two went unfinished with the Lions leading 5-2.
  • Columbia extended its edge to 3-0 after wins on court one and six, respectively. No. 15 Zheng bested No. 47 Rodenas 6-1, 6-2 on court one before Henry Ruger defeated Alexander Visser on court six 6-3, 6-1.
  • The Lions then claimed the overall win after Hugo Hashimoto recorded 6-3, 6-4 wins over Jake Krug on court five.
  • Three matches went unfinished on courts two, three and four.

     

Next Match
Duke heads to Massachusetts for a showdown at No. 8 Harvard and Boston College on Friday and Saturday, respectively.
