Duke Closes Weekend Action at Furman


GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Duke women’s tennis team closed its opened weekend of action with three singles victory on Sunday at the Debbie Southern Fall Classic in Greenville, S.C.

The Blue Devils received a 6-2, 6-4 victory by 70th-ranked Iuliia Bryzgalova over Elise Mills of South Carolina to finish the weekend 2-1 in singles action.  Brianna Shvets, who is ranked No. 57, also finished 2-1 in singles play with a 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 victory over Wake Forest’s Nevena Carton.  Freshman Katie Codd closed with a victory over Mckenna Schaefbauer of South Carolina, 6-3, 6-1, to also finish with a 2-1 ledger.  

Duke will be off until Oct. 1-9 for the ITA All-American in Cary, N.C.
