Duke Announces Spring Slate - Duke University


DURHAM – Duke men’s tennis head coach Ramsey Smith announced the team’s spring schedule on Thursday and it is highlighted by 12 home matches.

The Blue Devils open the season in Honolulu, Hawaii, for the Hawaii Invitational on Jan. 9-10. While in the Aloha state, they will face off against California and Hawaii. Duke then returns home for three matches against Memphis (Jan. 20), Harvard (Jan. 22) and North Carolina Central (Jan. 22) at Sheffield Indoor Tennis Center.

The Blue Devils next hits the road for the ITA Kickoff Weekend in Winston-Salem, N.C., where they face Middle Tennessee State on Jan. 27 and either the event hosts Wake Forest or Auburn on Jan. 28. Duke is then back home for matches against Illinois (Feb. 3), Northwestern (Feb. 5) and East Tennessee State (Feb. 10) before traveling to Kentucky on Feb. 12.

 

If Duke wins its ITA Kickoff Weekend, it will advance to compete at the National Team Indoors in Chicago, Ill., the weekend of Feb. 17-20. The Blue Devils conclude the month of February with their first ACC contest against Boston College on Feb. 24 and a non-conference match against Charlotte on Feb. 25.

 

Duke is then away from Durham for its next six matches at Louisville (March 3), Notre Dame (March 5), Virginia Tech (March 17), Virginia (March 19), Clemson (March 24) and Georgia Tech (March 26). The Blue Devils return home for contests against Wake Forest on March 31 and N.C. State on April 2 before making the short trip to Chapel Hill for a match against North Carolina on April 8.

Duke wraps up the regular season at home, hosting Miami and Florida State on April 14 and 16, respectively.

The Cary Tennis Park in Cary, N.C., will serve as the host site for the ACC Men’s Tennis Championships which runs from April 20-23.

The NCAA Tournament opens with the NCAA First and Second Rounds on May 5-6 with the winners advancing to the NCAA Super Regionals on May 13 or 14. All three rounds will be at select campus sites. The winners of the Super Regionals will advance to the NCAA Team Championships in Orlando, Fla., from May 18-21. The NCAA Individual Championships will follow the team championships, May 22-27.
