STILLWATER, Okla. –– The Alabama men’s tennis team recorded a pair of doubles victories on the second day of the Big 12/SEC Challenge.
Roan Jones and Matias Ponce De Leon posted their second win this weekend as a duo, while Enzo Aguiard and Zach Foster found their first victory off a three-set triumph.
The Competition
- Jones and Ponce De Leon recorded their second win of the weekend to remain undefeated as a doubles pair in the tournament
- After going 6-3 in the opening set, Jones and Ponce De Leon took the second set off a 7-4 tiebreaker to top Sabastian Abboud and Tyler Stewert (TTU)
- Aguiard and Foster secured their first doubles win of the tournament with a three-set victory against Texas Tech’s Jonas Gundacker and Takeyasu Sekiguchi
- Aguaird and Foster won the first set, 6-2, but dropped the second set, 6-3. The duo would battle back to take the match at 10-4.
- In singles, Aguiard highlighted the Tide, winning the first set, 7-6(5), but had to retire in the second set
- Foster won the second set against No. 72 Oskar Brostrom Poulsen (Baylor), but fell 6-4, 3-6, 7-5 in the match
