Dores selected for the Ohio State Regional

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – For the 28th consecutive year, the Vanderbilt women’s tennis team has been selected for the NCAA postseason tournament. In the first round, the No. 31 Commodores will face East Tennessee State University in Columbus, Ohio, at the Ohio State Regional.

With a 15-11 record in dual matches this season, the Dores punched their ticket to ITA Nationals in February and ranked as high as No. 9 nationally. Vanderbilt has two nationally ranked singles players: Celia-Belle Mohr at No. 30 and Bridget Stammel at No. 99. Additionally, Mohr and doubles partner Marcella Cruz earned a No. 41 ranking.

At the SEC tournament, Mohr defeated Texas A&M’s No. 2 Mary Stoiana, her seventh win over a ranked opponent, which helped solidify her as a First Team All-SEC member. Anessa Lee has had a standout year on the singles courts, recording her first 30-plus win season. Freshman Bridget Stammel was named to the All-Freshman SEC team last week after an impressive first regular season, winning 14 dual singles matches and defeating five ranked opponents.

In doubles, Mohr and Cruz defeated two ranked opponents back to back at the SEC tournament.

The individual tournament bracket will be announced Tuesday.
