Cougar Tennis Heads East for All-American Championships


PULLMAN, Wash. — Washington State Tennis will send three players to the 2024 ITA All-American Championships, Sept. 21-29 at the Cary Tennis Park in Cary, N.C. Senior Elyse Tse and juniors Eva Alvarez Sande and Maxine Murphy will participate in the pre-qualifying singles rounds while Murphy and Alvarez Sande will also participate in doubles.
 
The 2024 All-American Championships are one of the premier collegiate tennis events each year. The pre-qualifying rounds run Sept. 21-22, followed by the qualifying rounds Sept. 23-24 and the main draw, Sept. 25-29.
 
Tse will begin her tournament by facing Stetson’s Cheri Darley in the first round Saturday at 11:30 a.m. PT. Alvarez Sande squares off against Utah’s Kaila Barksdale in her first round at 9 a.m. PT, while Murphy will face Purdue’s Carmen Gallardo Guevara at 9:30 a.m. PT.
 
In doubles play, Alvarez Sande and Murphy will face North Carolina’s duo of Theadora Rabman and Alana Boyce, seeded No. 8, Saturday at 1:30 p.m. PT.
