Coleman/Jackson Sweep Opening Day of Fall Ranked Spotlight


RALEIGH, N.C. – Duke’s doubles duo of junior Ellie Coleman and classmate Emma Jackson went 2-0 on the opening day of the USTA Fall Ranked Spotlight, hosted by NC State.

In the opening round, the pair faced Giulia Morlet and Emilija Tverijonaite of Arizona State and earned a convincing 6-3 victory. Coleman and Jackson continued to show strength in their later match, powering past Southern California’s Emma Charney and Snow Han to claim a 6-2 decision and remain undefeated on the day.

Senior Karolina Berankova and sophomore Elle Christensen teamed up for the first time in the C group of the doubles bracket. The tandem faced Oklahoma’s Dana Guzman and Alina Shcherbinia and Carol Lee and Kylie Bilchev of Georgia Tech, but ultimately dropped their matches 6-2 and 6-3, respectively.

The Blue Devils open singles action on Friday with 36th-ranked Jackson in the A-1 draw against 27th-ranked Sydni Ratliff of Ohio State at 9 a.m., while Coleman, Berankova and Christensen compete in the A-2 draw beginning at 11 a.m.
