The Cardinal shot out of the gates, earning 4-1 leads on all three doubles courts to start the match. Connie Ma and Valencia Xu were the first to finish, 6-1 winners on court three, followed closely by Sara Choy and Alexandra Yepifanova on court two, winning 6-2.
Stanford quickly claimed five first set victories in singles, the only setback a tiebreak defeat on court one for Ma. No. 33 Alexandra Yepifanova closed out a 6-2, 6-0 on court three for the Cardinal’s second point before Xu won 6-1, 6-0 on court five. The clincher came from No. 84 Alexis Blokhina, sealing the fourth point 6-1, 6-4 on court four.
The Cardinal didn’t stop there, with Choy a 6-2, 6-3 winner on court six, No. 28 Angelica Blake a 6-1, 7-6(5) winner on court two, and the sweep completed by Ma, coming back for a 6-4 set in the second and a 10-6 tiebreak for the third.
Stanford rounds out the weekend on Saturday, hosting No. 26 Arizona State at 12 p.m.
